The latest updates are detailed below:

Projects
Work is in progress to develop a copper laminate using PPO film. This will give a wider range of products if successful.

Work is in progress to test a PVdF film for use in solar cell backsheet laminates. This film is more readily available than the current Tedlar materials so could give a wider range of product possibilities.

We have been working with a company to produce an aluminium based tape for sealing plastic bottles to give excellent water vapour ingress resistance. All tests so far have been successful. Samples are available at 80mm wide if you have an application for this material.

New Products
A major contract to supply coated polyester tape to one of the worlds leading photovoltaic solar cell manufacturers has been awarded to GTS and it is believed that further contracts for this tape and/or laminated product willbe awarded in the New Year.

A new silicone rubber based adhesive has been developed for very high temperature applications. This could be supplied as a tape or a laminate. Work carried out with a copper laminated solar panel backsheet product has been successful and the system is now being marketed worldwide.

Following the launch of the solar panel backsheet range of products further work has shown that the bonding layer on the inner surface can be supplied as white or clear.

New Product Launched
Solar Cell Back Sheet Laminates.

GTS is pleased to announce that they are now able to supply two types of laminate for use as back sheets for use in solar panels.

For high intensity application we recommend the PVF-PET-PVF laminates where the final thickness can be adjusted to suit your requirements. These products can also be supplied with a copper layer on one side so that a printed circuit can be etched into the product prior to fabrication.

We can also supply a total polyester version for use in lower intensity sunlight areas.

This can also be produced with a copper layer on one side to enable printed circuit etching if required.

Copper-Clad Laminate & Laminate
GTS is pleased to announce the launch of a new product series - GTS7890 / GTS3890 - Copper-Clad Laminate (CCL) and Coverlay (CL) system. The adhesive developed by GTS for use in this product series is a clear, non-halogen epoxy adhesive. The adhesive was designed using information from the European Union project 'Flexnolead' , which involves a number of companies and academic institutions investigating the effect of lead-free soldering on flexible circuit materials. See http://www.flexnoleadproject.com/

The aim application areas for the product series are consumer electronics that need compliance to the strictest OEM requirements, such as mobile phones or portable computers - typically these requirements go beyond those of the RoHS directive.

The material is supplied in rolls slit to customers requirements, with copper foils from 9 to 140 microns and PI films from 12 to 125 microns

The clear adhesive system is also supplied as a cast or free-film adhesive sheet for use with multilayer or flex-rigid bonding.

High Performance Materials
GTS Flexible Materials Ltd are also pleased to announce that they have been appointed, Official distributor of APICAL® polyimide films in Europe.

This combination of Kaneka technical skills in producing the film, and GTS experience in the coating and laminating field will give an unparalleled service to the laminating and coating industry.

The partnership will enable a major expansion in polyimide film availability and will provide a major alternative to the films currently available.
