Flexible materials Ltd produce a wide range of metal
laminates that can be used in the shielding of electrical
equipment.
The metal can be varied to suit the application.
Most products use either copper or aluminium depending on the application in question.
All products can be bent and punched to enable fitting in unusual shaped spaces.
EMI stands for Electro Magnetic Interference. Electro magnetic radiations are all about us in the environment and what they all have in common is that they interfere with equipment.
Some components and circuits can be disrupted by interference from things such as power supplies, for example.
Shielding is done for the following reasons:
• To keep your electronic device from interfering with other devices.
• To keep other devices from interfering with your equipment.
Laminates have been developed to add shielding characteristics to plastic parts.
These conductive laminates reflect the interfering radiation. Copper is probably the most widely used shielding material.
